Gaming Studies is a platform dedicated to video game research. The platform was created to encourage the critical analysis of the topics in an scientific way. The way we want to achieve these goals is through our research projects whose main element are the small studies we conduct to answer to specific questions. An example of such a question could be: we will stay in touch with friends with whom we play a game even after we stop playing the game? (assuming you don’t know him outside of the game).
Although our studies have a sociological inclination, we will do our best to present the results in a way that is accessible to all, hoping that our projects will be useful in other areas as well.
To date, GS Project has completed 1 research and has currently a second project in work.
Our first project aimed to identify the motivation that causes gamers to spend more time in video games. The results of the first study gave us indications of an increased importance of social motivation (that is we spend more time in games when we play together with friends then alone), so we decided to start a second project to investigate these findings.
